===================================================================================
Youre dead. You were, in fact, crushed in a car accident. ||
But minutes later you wake up. ||
Youre given a second chance: escape the Maze, and you get to live: ||
die, and you die . . . forever.                                                   ||
A Maze made of 25 floors, one below the other and being shuffled every second. ||
A 2D horror masterpiece set in a dark, nightmarish labyrinthe world. ||

How to play:

The Maze is a game about finding your way out - in the dark. It is all about escape.
Stay away from anything that moves, and don't spend too long in one place. The game automatically saves itself, so if you die, simply click "Resume" from the main menu to reload your last played level. Due to the pseudo-random nature of the game, every playthrough will be unique: you won't see the same order of levels every time you play.

Controls:

  A / left arrow - move left
  D / right arrow - move right
  W / up arrow - move up
  S / down arrow - move down

[ in short, you can use both the standard WASD and arrow-key schemes to move around ]

Use the mouse to look around. In later levels you will find white teleporters, which you
can click. You will be instantly be transported to the teleporter, which will vanish.
You can only use each teleporter once, so use them wisely!

Frequently asked Questions [FAQ]
  1) What did you use to make the Maze?
Game Maker 8, the GIMP, and Power Sound Editor free. And lots of paper.
  2) Why is the Maze so hard?
If you do find it hard, it's meant to be that way! The Maze was designed to pay homage
to old-school gaming, where the journey is hard but the rewards are worth it.
  3) Why is Death so sarcastic?
Well, he's been hanging around since the dawn of time. Stuff like that tends to
     inspre sarcasm in anyone.
  4) Death keeps on putting me in the Simplex
Death is a pretty random bag of bones, but very rarely, he develops a liking for the Simplex. He'll probably ease up after you've died. Heh.
  4) How can I contact you / 4250?
visit 4250games.wordpress.com for more or contact me @ ALCH3MIST.4250@mail.com.
Send in comments, support, suggestions, or anything else you have in mind!
  5) Shouldn't there be more questions here?
No. This is all that I've been Frequently Asked.

Creator's Note:

The Maze is a game I worked on for the Cruncher 2011 game development
competition. What started out as a simple maze game, however, became
a dark horror game that drew out all my skill. I built it to pay homage to
the old-school greats I grew up with, drawing out the tension, the difficulty as best as I could.
After winning the competition, I decided to polish it up, add a few more things, and release. And THIS is the result.

I would like to thank my parents, my friends, my fellow gamers @ Gamer.lk,
and everybody who helped me out through the development of this game. The
beta testers are listed in the Credits menu; much thanks to them all.
But there are a few more who have encouraged me and kept me on track,
and they deserve mention:
  Mohammed Sulaiman
  Prithvi Virasinghe
The Organizing Committee of Cruncher 2011

Without their support it is likely this would have long since fallen through.

It is with great pleasure that I give you the Maze. Enjoy :)
